Hi, I’m Mark.

I’ve been working in finance globally for over the past 18 years, spanning investment banking, corporate M&A, private equity and venture capital investing in New York, London, and Seoul. Over the past 14 years living in Korea, I’ve also continued to develop a strong interest in Korean language as well as a love for Korean modern and traditional art and culture. I enjoy living in a Korean traditional home (hanok), and often enjoy lecturing or writing columns on the subjects of Korean art, beauty, and tradition. I’ve also appeared on Korean television and on Netflix, including as the US representative on the Korean talk show “Abnormal Summit” (비정상회담), as well as the world travel and culture program “The Homecoming” (내 친구의 집은 어디인가).

Each month I meet and interview great Korean artists.

Living in Korea - and in particular living in a Korean traditional house (hanok) - naturally led to an interest in collecting Korean art. I curate and maintain a small collection of Korean traditional and modern art. This collection spans the centuries, from an ancient Gaya-era earthenware jar (ca. 5th century) to works by contemporary Korean artists.
